First probability:

To talk about a permanent situation or something that is always true.

Examples:

1. He lives in Spain.
2. Does he work in a factory.
3. Insects have six legs.
4. What temperature does water boil at?

Second probability:

To talk about things that happen regularly.

Examples:

1. She leaves for school at 8 o’clock.
2. We don’t often go out for a meal.
3. What time do you catch the bus?

Points to be remembered:

1. Use simple first form of verb if the subject is plural.

Example:

They (plural subject) live (first form of verb) in spain (object).

Structure:

Plural subject + first form of verb + object

2. If subject is singular then use first form of verb and addition of s or es(use es when verb ends with sh,ch,x,z,o or s)

Example:

He (singular subject) lives (first form of verb+s) in spain.

Structure:

Singular subject + first form of verb+(s or es)+ object

3. Addition of ‘do (with plural subject) or does (with singular subject) in negative and interrogative sentences before using the first form of verb.

Example of negative sentence:

1. He does not live in Spain.
2. They do not live in Spain.

structure:

Subject + do or does + first form of verb + object

Example of interrogative sentence:

1. Does he live in Spain?
2. Do they live in Spain?

structure:

Do or does + subject + first form of verb + object.
